Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has laid out a plan to address Ethereum Layer-1 scalability issues via 'partially stateless nodes'. Increasing the L1 gas limit can make full node operation challenging, but Buterin suggests changes such as EIP-4444 to store less historical data. He aims for a lighter node environment by offloading storage and modifying gas pricing. In the medium term, 'stateless verification' could further reduce data burdens. Buterin believes 'partially stateless nodes' can greatly increase the L1 gas limit and operate efficiently by storing selected data sets.
