At the Bitcoin 2025 event in Las Vegas, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed that the company holds more than 100,000 bitcoins, valued at over $10 billion, along with 50 tons of gold. Tether, issuer of the USDT stablecoin, made a remarkable $13 billion profit in 2024. Ardoino addressed that despite some Bitcoin enthusiasts' lack of interest in gold, Tether views it as a safeguard against fiat currency instability. Recent reports estimate Tether's bitcoin holdings at a value of around $7 billion and gold at over $6 billion, based on a Bitcoin price of roughly $83,000. Bitcoin's value recently surpassed an all-time high of $109,000. Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management has also launched a fund targeting bitcoin with gold-based downside protection, in partnership with Tether and others.
