Mihailo Bjelic, a co-founder of Polygon, announced his decision to step back from the blockchain initiative he helped create. This marks the third founder exit from the company. Bjelic mentioned that as projects evolve, so do visions, which sometimes diverge, making it difficult for him to contribute effectively. He expressed confidence in Polygon's leadership and stated his intention to support the project from the sidelines. Bjelic co-founded Polygon, initially known as Matic Network, alongside Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, and Anurag Arjun in 2017. Under Bjelic, Polygon made significant contributions to blockchain research, including advancements in zero-knowledge and proof-of-stake technologies. In late 2024, Polygon began a token migration as part of its 2.0 roadmap, swapping MATIC tokens for POL, aiming to enhance the native token's utility. His exit follows that of Kanani and Arjun, who also stepped down earlier. Sandeep Nailwal, another co-founder, praised Bjelic's contributions, emphasizing his pivotal role in shaping Polygon. POL, Polygon's token, experienced a 3.7% decrease, standing at $0.24. Bjelic's departure is noteworthy in the evolution of this major blockchain platform.
