Ondo Finance and the Ondo Foundation have launched the Ondo Global Markets platform, allowing 24/7 on-chain trading of more than 100 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs. Designed for eligible investors in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, the platform aims to scale to over 1,000 assets by the end of the year. Users can mint and redeem these tokenized assets five days a week, benefiting from on-chain liquidity linked to traditional exchanges. While U.S. and UK investors are excluded, the tokenized assets can be transferred peer-to-peer on-chain continuously. The founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, Nathan Allman, highlighted the platform as a breakthrough in financial accessibility, mirroring how stablecoins have integrated the U.S. dollar on-chain. Key cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges, including OKX, Trust Wallet, and 1inch, support these tokenized stocks. In addition, Ondo is partnering with Block Street to enhance liquidity options for these assets, which include borrowing and shorting capabilities. Several other crypto projects are also advancing in tokenized securities, including Kraken and Robinhood, pointing towards broader market adoption. McKinsey estimates that the tokenized asset market could reach a $2 trillion cap by 2030. Earlier, Ondo announced its Layer 1 blockchain, Ondo Chain, aimed at fostering institutional-grade financial markets.
