Ondo Finance Acquires Strangelove for RWA Strategy

On Monday, Ondo Finance announced its acquisition of blockchain developer Strangelove to strengthen its capabilities in bringing real-world assets (RWA) on-chain. Nathan Allman, Ondo’s founder and CEO, emphasized that this move solidifies their commitment to developing the infrastructure necessary for on-chain financial markets. This acquisition follows Ondo's prior announcement of a joint investment with Pantera Capital, where they plan to allocate $250 million towards RWA projects. Shortly after, Ondo revealed its acquisition of Oasis Pro, granting access to a broker-dealer licensed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Recently, the tokenization of real-world assets—such as securities, real estate, and private equity—has gained significant traction. Interest in tokenizing U.S. equities and shares of private companies is particularly high. A report from Ripple and Boston Consulting Group projects that the tokenized asset market could surpass $18 trillion by the year 2033. Ondo stated that acquiring Strangelove positions them as the only full-stack tokenized asset platform capable of omnichain asset issuance. The company highlighted that Strangelove's engineering expertise and proven track record will enable them to provide scalable, interoperable financial products for a global market. Strangelove is noted for its role as a validator focused on the design, deployment, and maintenance of open-source infrastructure across various blockchain ecosystems.
