MetaMask Expands Support to Sei Blockchain

Source: theblock.co8/6/2025

MetaMask, the popular crypto wallet with over 100 million users, has integrated the Sei Layer 1 blockchain, bringing its list of supported blockchains to over ten. Users can now interact with Sei-based applications, tokens, NFTs, and more directly from their MetaMask wallet. This integration enables users to swap, bridge, and purchase Sei tokens using convenient fiat onramps such as credit cards and Apple Pay. Additionally, a dedicated Sei ecosystem page has been added to the MetaMask Portfolio, showcasing various decentralized applications (dapps) and network activities, all designed to improve user experience without the need for prior complex setups or third-party tools. "Expanding MetaMask to include emerging networks like Sei addresses real user needs," said Gal Eldar, MetaMask's global product lead. "As Web3 moves toward a multi-chain future, users shouldn’t have to deal with multiple wallets or complex processes to engage." Launched in 2023, Sei has quickly gained popularity, particularly after introducing its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible chain, Sei V2, which reports more than 4.2 million transactions per day and over $600 million in total value locked (TVL) across its network. In recent years, MetaMask has progressively broadened its support, now covering both EVM-compatible and non-EVM chains, including Arbitrum, Base, Solana, BNB Chain, and Linea. The SEI token is currently ranked 75th in the cryptocurrency market, trading around $0.30 with a market cap of approximately $1.7 billion as of now. Moreover, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay has hinted at the possibility of launching a native token for the wallet, emphasizing that if it happens, it will be thoroughly communicated to users through the wallet interface.
