DBS Bank Tokenizes Structured Notes on Ethereum

Source: theblock.co8/21/2025

DBS, Singapore's largest bank, announced on Thursday its plans to tokenize structured notes on the Ethereum blockchain, making them available to eligible traders on various crypto investment platforms and exchanges. The bank has partnered with three platforms—ADDX, DigiFT, and HydraX—to facilitate the distribution of these tokenized notes. Li Zhen, head of foreign exchange and digital markets at DBS, stated, "Asset tokenisation is the next frontier of financial markets infrastructure. Our first tokenised product, a crypto-linked note, caters to the increasing institutional interest in digital assets." Structured notes are complex financial instruments whose values depend on an underlying asset or index, often customized to meet specific investor needs, such as enhancing returns or minimizing losses. Typically, a minimum investment of $100,000 is required for these products, as noted by DBS. The initial offering will feature crypto-linked structured notes that promise cash payouts when cryptocurrency prices increase, while also being structured to minimize potential losses if prices fall. Each tokenized note corresponds to a fungible $1,000 share of the original product, allowing DBS to attract accredited and institutional investors by providing greater flexibility in portfolio management. With over 2,000 single-family offices, Singapore is positioning itself as a prime hub for wealth management. Moreover, DBS plans to extend its offerings beyond crypto-linked notes, including common structured products like equity-linked and credit-linked notes. According to DBS, their clients executed more than $1 billion in trades involving crypto-linked structured notes in the first half of 2025.
