Brave, known for its privacy-focused features, has launched the .brave domain as part of a collaboration with Unstoppable Domains. This initiative makes it the first browser to have its own blockchain-based top-level domain (TLD). The .brave domains can be minted as NFTs on the Polygon blockchain and function across various networks like Sonic, Solana, and Ethereum. It allows users to host decentralized websites on IPFS, directly accessible in Brave. CTO Brian Bondy emphasizes this move enhances user privacy and control. While blockchain domains typically face challenges in traditional browsers due to DNS differences, Brave aims to integrate them into Web2 and Web3 by 2026. The browser, although niche, is growing, with over 85 million users.
